3rd Year: UCC 'Distillery Building' Foodhall

This is project was a 3rd year first semester design studio project designed to get students to interlink concept development with interior architectural design.

This building called for the addition of a food hall located in the UCC owned Cork Distillery Building which is located in the heart of Cork City, though nestled in the serene vegetation on the banks of the River Lee. My concept developed from the buildings existing surroundings and the idea of pulling the nature of the River Lee inside, like the meander of the river, the lily pads and the natural forms we see around the building.

 

Although this project is not necessarily what I would do with what the brief called for now, I appreciate where my design was aimed given it was our first introduction of incorporating concept within a large interior space.
